Waltanna Farms is a certified organic flaxseed farm and food manufacturer based in Hamilton, Victoria, Australia. Situated in the heart of South-West Victoria, our farm lies among the region’s fertile basalt plains, at the foothills of the Grampians. It is a unique agricultural environment that has supported generations, and for the Nagorcka family, it has been home for more than 150 years.
Our Waltanna story is one of family, farming, innovation and an extensive connection to the local area. For five generations, the Nagorcka family has continued to adapt, combining traditional farming knowledge with innovative agricultural practices.
Flaxseed has been part of the Waltanna story for decades. The family first began growing flaxseed on the farm as early as 1946, and today our family farm has evolved into our specialised food business producing premium organic flaxseed products for customers throughout Australia.
Our history of innovation extends well beyond flaxseed. The Nagorcka family has a proud association with agricultural machinery engineering and has worked alongside major names including Ford and John Deere. We have also designed and built our own Waltanna Tractors here on the farm, developing machinery specifically suited to Australian farming conditions.
Now, as a multi-generational family business, Waltanna combines farming expertise, food manufacturing knowledge and purpose built technology to grow, process and package high quality crops right here on the farm.

What We Do
Waltanna is best known for our Organic Golden Flaxseed Oil and flagship Organic Golden Rolled Flaxseed but through years of research, development and investment in specialised machinery, we have developed a diverse flaxseed based product range designed to make this versatile seed easy to enjoy in any meal.
Our range includes cold-pressed flaxseed oils, flaxseed meal, flaxseed flour, rolled flaxseed, gluten free baking mixes and other flaxseed-based products. We also grow and process other crops, including organic chickpeas, and offer complementary products such as our Waltanna grown mustard.
Wherever possible, our products are grown, harvested, processed and packed onsite. This farmgate approach gives us greater control over the journey of our products and allows us to maintain a strong connection between the paddock and the finished product.

What is Flaxseed?
Our Flaxseed is 100% natural, gluten free and grown using certified organic farming practices right here in country Victoria, Australia.
Flaxseed, also known as linseed, is the seed of the Linum usitatissimum plant. It is a small but naturally nutrient-dense seed that has been valued for generations as a versatile food ingredient.
Flaxseed is particularly well known for its naturally occurring omega-3 fatty acid ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), as well as dietary fibre, protein, lignans and a range of vitamins and minerals.
At Waltanna Farms, we grow certified organic golden flaxseed in the Hamilton region of Victoria. Waltanna’s high-quality flaxseed has a naturally mild, nutty flavour and can be used across a wide variety of foods. Its versatility and heath benefits is one of the reasons we have continued to invest in developing different ways for customers to enjoy flaxseed.

Flaxseed was specifically selected for production at Waltanna Farms because of its suitability to Australian growing conditions and its versatility as a food ingredient.
The seed itself may be small, but processing it requires considerable care. Much of the oil and nutritional value is protected within the seed’s delicate outer shell. For this reason, our approach to harvesting, handling and processing has been developed specifically around maintaining the quality of the finished product.
We have continually invested in customised equipment and processing technology to make the most of this valuable crop. One example is our unique rolling process, which gently cracks the outer shell of the seed while helping to preserve the oil rich interior. This creates a convenient whole seed product with maximum nutritional benefits that can be enjoyed without the need to grind the seed first.

Cold-Pressed Flaxseed Oil
One of the most valuable components of the flaxseed is the naturally occurring oil contained inside the seed. Extracting that oil while protecting its quality requires careful handling.
At Waltanna Foods, our flaxseed oil is produced using a cold-pressing process designed to extract the oil at low temperatures. Our golden flaxseed can produce an oil containing a high level of omega-3 ALA, making it a naturally rich source of this essential fatty acid.
Because the human body cannot produce ALA itself, it must be obtained through food. Flaxseed oil provides a convenient way to incorporate plant-based omega-3 into your everyday diet.
The delicate nature of flaxseed oil means that careful processing, handling and storage are essential. Our specialised growing and production methods have been developed with this in mind, helping us produce a very premium flaxseed oil.

Organic farming is an important part of our approach to caring for the land and producing food responsibly. We believe good farming starts with healthy soil, thoughtful crop management and a long-term commitment to the environment.
Over the years, much of our equipment has been designed or adapted specifically for the way we grow and process flaxseed. This investment allows us to manage more of the production process ourselves, from growing and harvesting the crop through to processing, packaging and bottling. It also gives us an intimate understanding of our product at every stage of its journey.
Our unique machinery and bespoke farmgate processing facility allow us to maintain a genuine paddock to plate approach. Rather than simply purchasing a finished ingredient and putting it into a package, we are involved from seed in the paddock to product on the shelf. For us, producing great food begins with growing great crops. Our farm and food business work together, allowing us to make use of resources wherever possible and reduce unnecessary waste.
